Mechanic’s Liens

A Mechanic’s Lien is a statutory creation which can be used by contractors, subcontractors and suppliers in appropriate cases as an effective tool to secure priority payment for their work and materials. Such liens cover the price or value of the work performed and materials provided in erecting, improving, or repairing a building or other structure.

Mechanic’s Liens require strict compliance with statutory requirements.  They are time-sensitive, and deadlines must be strictly adhered to.  If all requirements are met, however, mechanic’s liens can be obtained and maintained relatively simply and cost-effectively, and can offer a quick and easy way to help secure payment.

If you are a contractor, subcontractor or supplier who needs help with securing or collecting payment for your work or materials, or an owner/developer or general contractor whose property and/or project has been encumbered by a mechanic’s lien, the attorneys at our firm, Ferraro & Boulé, can help.
